The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and a few from later times. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right hand; 38
