The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
