The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
