The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
