Nay, and by the moon, 32 by the retreating night, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 except the people of the right hand 39 In Gardens they will question 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 As they were frightened asses 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
