The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
