The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 They do not expect any reward 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
