The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the night when it covers 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And accepts the best, 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And rejects goodness, 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
