A large group from the earlier generations. 39 And a multitude from the later generations. 40 As for the People on the Left: how miserable will be the People on the Left! 41 In fierce hot wind and boiling water, 42 And in the shades of Black Smoke: 43 neither cool, neither goodly; 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 And they used to say, "When we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, will we surely be raised again?" 47 And so will our fathers?" 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 will indeed be gathered together at an appointed time on a Day known [only to God]: 50 Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers, 51 you shall eat of a tree called Zakkoum, 52 and will have to fill your bellies therewith, 53 And drink over it scalding water, 54 like a thirsty camel". 55 This shall be their hospitality on the Day of Doom. 56 WE who have created you, [O men:] why, then, do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you considered the seed you spill? 58 Do you create it, or We are its creator? 59 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone 60 from replacing you by others like yourselves or changing your forms and re-creating you in forms that you know nothing of. 61 And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect? 62 Have you ever considered the seed which you cast upon the soil? 63 Cause it ye to grow, or are We the Grower? 64 If We will We can make it like dry trampled hay, so you would keep crying out. 65 'We are debt-loaded; 66 "Indeed are we shut out (of the fruits of our labour)" 67 Have ye observed the water which ye drink? 68 Is it you who cause it from the rainclouds to come down, or are We the Causer of it to come down? 69 If We had so pleased, We could have made it bitter. So why would you not give thanks? 70 Did you consider the fire which you kindle? 71 Did you make its timber to grow, or did We make it? 72 We have made it to be a reminder and a benefit for the wayfarers. 73 (Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One. 74
