The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
