The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 a fitting requital, 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
