The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
