The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
