He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and fearfully, 9 you ignore him. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We send down abundant water, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
