The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
