The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
