Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and goblets set forth 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
