The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
