The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
