The dwellers of the Thicket belied their Messengers. 176 When Shu'aib said to them: "Will you not take heed? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 So fear Allah and obey me. 179 I ask no recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, do not be among the cheats, 181 Weigh on an even balance. 182 and do not deliver short, and do not go about creating mischief in the land, 183 Have fear of the One who has created you and the generations that lived before you." 184 They said: "You are no more than one of those who have been bewitched, 185 “You are just a human like us, and indeed we consider you a liar.” 186 But in case you are speaking the truth, then make a segment of the sky to fall upon us." 187 He said: My Lord knows best what you do. 188 But they gave him the lie. And thereupon suffering overtook them on a day dark with shadows: and verily, it was the suffering of an awesome day! 189 Surely, in this is indeed a sign; but most of them would not believe: 190 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
