Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 labouring, weary, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a Garden on high, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
