The Ad gave the lie to the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not take heed? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 "Do you build high palaces on every high place, while you do not live in them? 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 And when ye seize, ye seize like unto tyrants. 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 and [thus] be conscious of Him who has [so] amply provided you with all [the good] that you might think of 132 He has given you cattle, children, 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 And we shall not be doomed. 138 In response they denied him – We therefore destroyed them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
