Vain is it that you do: 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants! 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons, 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 I fear the punishment of a terrible day for you. 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 this is nothing but a habit of the ancients: 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
