Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
