In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you who wraps himself [in clothing], 1 Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. 2 For half the night, or reduce some from it. 3 or add a little), and chant the Koran very distinctly; 4 We are about to cast upon you a weighty Word. 5 Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. 6 Lo! thou hast by day a chain of business. 7 But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly. 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 We have prepared for them fetters, flaming fire, 12 and food that chokes, and a painful chastisement, 13 On that day, the earth and the mountains will be violently shaken, and the mountains will be turned into heaps of moving sand. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired? 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19
