The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
