The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? 1 We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. 2 Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 [whereas,] behold, the truly virtuous shall drink from a cup flavoured with the calyx of sweet-smelling flowers: 5 a fountain whereat drink the servants of God, making it to gush forth plenteously. 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 those who, for the love of Him, feed the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 And reward them for their perseverence Paradise and silken robes, 12 In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, 13 near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, 14 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. 16 And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
