And Aaron indeed had told them beforehand: O my people! Ye are but being seduced therewith, for lo! your Lord is the Beneficent, so follow me and obey my order. 90 They replied, "We shall not cease to worship it until Moses returns to us." 91 He (Moses) said: O Aaron! What held thee back when thou didst see them gone astray, 92 from [abandoning them and] following me? Hast thou, then, [deliberately] disobeyed my commandment?" 93 'Son of my mother' he replied, 'Do not seize my beard nor my head. I was afraid that you might say: "You have divided the Children of Israel and did not uphold my word." 94 Said Moosa, “And what is your explanation, O Samri?” 95 He replied, "I had the skill (of carving) which they did not have. All your life you shall cry: 'Untouchable.' There awaits a term for your reckoning that you cannot fail to keep. Now look at your god that you devotedly adored: We shall burn it and scatter its remains in the sea. 97 “Your God is only Allah – other than for Whom there is no worship; His knowledge encompasses all things.” 98 And so We narrate to you the stories of the past, and We have given you a remembrance from Us. 99 Whoso turneth away from it, he verily will bear a burden on the Day of Resurrection, 100 They will remain in it forever – what an evil burden it will be for them on the Day of Resurrection! 101 The Day whereon the trumpet will be blown into, and We shall gather the culprits on that Day blear-eyed, 102 Whispering secretly among themselves, “You have not stayed on earth but for ten days.” 103 We know well what they will say to one another: We also know that even the most cautious in his estimate will say: "You lived in the world no more than a day." 104
