He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And whereas he fears, 9 You neglect. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 his mother, his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
