1/2 Hizb 33
< random >
۞ Surely We had bestowed wisdom upon Abraham even earlier, and We knew him well. 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these idols to which you cling so passionately?" 52 They answered: "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 Abraham said, "Indeed, you and your fathers have been clearly misguided." 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He answered: "Nay, but your [true] Sustainer is the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth - He who has brought them into being: and I am one of those who bear witness to this [truth]!" 56 “And, by oath of Allah, I shall seek to harm your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs.” 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 Some said, "We heard a young man, called Abraham, talking about them." 60 They said, "Then bring him here in the sight of all the people, so that they may act as witnesses." 61 They said: Have you done this to our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 "No," he said. "It was done by that chief of theirs. Ask him in case they can speak." 63 Then they thought and observed: "Surely you are yourselves unjust." 64 With their heads cast down they said, "Abraham, you know that idols do not speak. How then can you ask such a question?" 65 Abraham said: "Do you, then, worship beside Allah a thing that can neither benefit you nor hurt you? 66 "Fie upon you, and upon the things that ye worship besides Allah! Have ye no sense?".. 67 They said: 'Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do anything' 68 But We said, "Fire! Be cool and a means of safety for Abraham." 69 And they wished to set a snare for him, but We made them the greater losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lut to the land wherein We had placed Our blessings for the worlds. 71 We gave him, in excess, Isaac, and Jacob (for a grandson); and We made each righteous 72 And We made them leaders, guiding by Our command; and We revealed unto them the doing of good deeds and the establishment of prayer, and the giving of poor-rate; and of Us they were the worshippers. 73 And to Lut, too, We gave Judgment and Knowledge, and We saved him from the town which practised abominations: truly they were a people given to Evil, a rebellious people. 74 And We caused him to enter into Our mercy; verily he was of the righteous. 75
