۞ And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing 51 Behold! he said to his father and his people, "What are these images, to which ye are (so assiduously) devoted?" 52 They answered: "We found our forefathers worshipping them." 53 He said: Certainly you have been, (both) you and your fathers, in manifest error. 54 They said: 'Is it the truth you have brought us, or are you one of those that play' 55 He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify. 56 I swear by God I will do something to your idols when you have turned your backs and gone." 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 They said: "Who has done this to our aliha (gods)? He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers." 59 Some of them said, "We heard a youth called Abraham speaking against the idols". 60 Said they: Then bring him before the eyes of the people, perhaps they may bear witness. 61 They said, "Art thou the one that did this with our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said: "Nay, this was done by - this is their biggest one! ask them, if they can speak intelligently!" 63 So they turned to themselves and said, "Surely ye are the ones in the wrong!" 64 Then they were utterly put to confusion saying, 'Very well indeed thou knowest these do not speak.' 65 He said: Worship ye then instead of Allah that which cannot profit you at all, nor harm you? 66 Fie on you and those you worship besides God! Will you not understand?" 67 They said: "Burn him, and save your gods, if you are men of action." 68 We said: O fire! be a comfort and peace to Ibrahim; 69 And they wanted to harm him, but We made them the worst losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob as an additional gift, making each of them righteous. 72 And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone). 73 And (as for) Lut, We gave him wisdom and knowledge, and We delivered him from the town which wrought abominations; surely they were an evil people, transgressors; 74 We encompassed him in Our mercy; he was a righteous man. 75
