The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they differ? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
