Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
