The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 hastening towards the Crier. Those who deny the truth will cry, "This is such a hard day!" 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
