The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
