The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Terror descends 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In gardens of delight; 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and serried acacias, 29 and shade extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
