The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and shade extended, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right. 38
