Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 about the guilty ones: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
