Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess. 31 And We chose them (the Children of Israel) above the 'Alamin (mankind, and jinns) [during the time of Musa (Moses)] with knowledge, 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 [Now,] behold, these [people] say indeed: 34 'There is nothing but our first death; we shall not be revived. 35 So bring our fathers [back], if what you say is true. 36 Are they, then, better than the people of Tubba and those before them, whom We destroyed because they were truly lost in [the same] sin? 37 It was not in play that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We created them not save in truth; but most of them know it not. 39 Truly, the Day of Decision is the appointed time for all of them, 40 A day when friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped, 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
