'Aad denied the messengers 123 when their brother Hood said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 124 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 125 "Therefore fear Allah and obey me." 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 And when ye seize, ye seize like unto tyrants. 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 "And gardens and springs. 134 I fear the punishment of a terrible day for you. 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 your preaching is nothing but ancient legends and we shall not face any torment". 137 "And we will not be punished." 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
