Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the break of Day 1 and ten nights, 2 And [by] the even [number] and the odd 3 and by the night when it departs. 4 Is there not an evidence in this for those who have sense? 5 Did you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) not see (thought) how your Lord dealt with 'Ad (people)? 6 [With] Iram - who had lofty pillars, 7 the like of which has never been created in the land, 8 And the tribe of Thamud, who hewed rocks in the valley. 9 (Also consider the people of) the Pharaoh who victimized people by placing them on the stake, 10 (All) these transgressed beyond bounds in the lands, 11 So they made great mischief therein? 12 So your Lord poured on them different kinds of severe torment. 13 Truly your Lord is ever watchful. 14 As for the human being, when his Lord tests him, honors him, and grants him bounty, he says, "God has honored me". 15 And if He tests him and restricts his livelihood – thereupon he says, “My Lord has degraded me!” 16 Nay, but ye (for your part) honour not the orphan 17 and you do not urge one another to feed the needy, 18 and you devour the inheritance [of others] with devouring greed, 19 And ye love riches with exceeding love. 20 But no; when the earth is ground to powder, 21 And when the command of your Lord comes – and the angels row by row, 22 and Gehenna (Hell) is brought near on that Day the human will remember, and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say: “Would that I had sent ahead what would be of avail for this life of mine!” 24 On that day the punishment of God and His detention will be unparalleled. 25 And His bonds will be such as none (other) can bind. 26 [To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul, 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], 28 Enter thou among My servants! 29 Enter thou My Garden! 30
