The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 And the day resplendent 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
