(Firon) said to the chiefs around him: Most surely this is a skillful magician, 34 "His plan is to get you out of your land by his sorcery; then what is it ye counsel?" 35 They said, "Hold him and his brother off for a while 36 "And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed." 37 So the magicians were gathered at a set time on a day appointed. 38 And it was said to the people, “Have you (also) gathered?” 39 Haply we may follow the magicians, if they are the vanquishers. 40 When the magicians arrived, they said to the Pharaoh: "Is there a reward for us if we are victorious?" -- 41 He said: "Yes, you will then become those near-stationed to me." 42 Moosa said to them, “Cast whatever you intend to cast.” 43 So they cast their ropes and rods, and said: "By the glory of Pharaoh, we shall be victorious." 44 Then Moses cast down his staff and it swallowed up their lying invention, 45 Then the magicians fell prostrating in adoration, 46 They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds, 47 the Lord of Moses and Aaron." 48 Fir'awn said: ye believed in him ere I gave you leave. Verily he is your chief who hath taught you magic, so ye shall surely come to know. Surely I shall cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides and surely I shall crucify you all. 49 They said, “No harm (in it), we will return to our Lord.” 50 We are eager that our Lord should forgive us our offences, for that we are the first of the believers.' 51
