The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
