Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
