۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 “Instead of Allah – and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 Then lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 Fruits. And they will be honoured 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 no headiness will be in it, and they will not get drunk thereon. 47 And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” – 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
