The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
