The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 The rebels' abode, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
