The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
