The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
